The huge downfall in the production and cultivation of cotton is affecting the entire Business chain.
President of Lahore Chamber Mian Tarq Misbah has appealed to the government to seriously impose a cotton emergency in the country as the low production of the cotton flower is affecting the entire business chain in Pakistan.
He stated that Textile makes almost 60% of entire exports of Pakistan and cotton flower is the most important and fundamental raw material for the Textile industry, due to the decline in its’ production the industries are left with no other option than to import it.
After 2017-18 the cultivation and production of cotton have gravely reduced. In 2019-2020 the production of cotton was reduced by 6.9 % limiting the production of 9.18 million bales of cotton.
He also commented that due to this reason the exports of textile are also reduced to 12.78 Billion Dollars. He demanded the government to resolve the issues related to the availability of water and electricity to the cotton cultivators and also help them to provide the means to save their yield from the insects so they can produce the maximum amount of cotton.
